Ripple pledges multiyear support to the UO and CIS in support of academic research in blockchain, cryptocurrency, and digital payments

Ripple's  University Blockchain Research Initiative (UBRI) will fund a new program in the CIS department: The Blockchain, Cryptocurrency and Cybersecurity Program (BCCP). The UO is one of just 17 universities worldwide in the UBRI.

"I think this is just an absolutely wonderful opportunity," said Joe Sventek, CIS head. "Two things we need to be good at to prepare students for this field are data science and cybersecurity. We've done a lot of work to get into the data science realm. This moves us further into the cybersecurity realm."
